Chesapeake & Ohio Canal
Chesapeake & Ohio Canal
Multi-Day Tour | up to 185 miles
George Washington envisioned the development of a canal along the Potomac River before he was even President of the US but it was President John Quincy Adams who started construction of the C&O Canal on July 4, 1828. For 90 years it served the region and country until other shipping methods and disastrous floods finished it off. Today, the C&O is a crown jewel in our National Parks and for bicycle touring. Jeff has biked the C&O several times including trips with his father (77 at the time), his son (11 at the time) and with guests. In total the C&O Canal has 184.5 miles to explore (or 335 if you combine it with the GAP), and we can ride the whole thing or adjust how much of the trail we ride. Let us plan a customized tour for you and your crew that fits your goals and your schedule. Contact us to discuss details and pricing.
